Parliament approves US $3 million for liberalizing telecommuncation.
The Parliamentarians approved proposal of the Government about allocating US $3 million to prepare the process liberalization of telecommunication.  Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao said it was important to have telecom competition as it was part of economic competition that would benefit people in the future.  "We really need competition in telecommunication sector to go on, that is why the Government proposed to allocate US $3 million for liberalizing telecommunication, PM Gusmao said.  Minister of Infrastructure Pedro Lay, said it is important to liberalize telecommunication in the country.  "We will negotiate liberalization with Timor Telecom.  We will also produce a decree law of telecommunication.  Conducting tender process and also loot at the frequency," Minister Lay said. * Diario Nacional, November 22, 2011 language source: Tetun
